You're engaged! Now what?

Well... CONGRATULATIONS!!!

This is an exciting time in your life!

But we all know that planning a wedding and being married, can come with a bit of stress and the feeling of being overwhelmed at times. However, both comes with a lot of fun, new experiences, and it can teach you how to work together as a team. You know the saying, "It's you and I against the world"? Well that is how it will be after marriage. It can't be you, your momma, and your spouse against the world.

"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

(Gen. 2:24)

So before we begin googling venues and picking out our dress in Bride magazine, take a breather. Take some time to bask in the beauty of your new ring and the wonderful man you are about to marry. I know, I know there is a lot to do and we only have so much time, but book a mani and pedi to compliment your new ring. Schedule a hair appointment, so you can start taking selfies with your left hand pressed against your face. You know you're going to do it, so you might as well look the part!

Once your head has finally stopped spinning from repeating the words, 'Thank You' and you've told the engagement story a few extra times once over, then let's get to work.

Have a sit down with your fiance and have a small talk about the things your MUST HAVE and the things you MUST NOT HAVE. This will help you both be on the same page in the direction of your wedding. Because honestly, most men are just not going to want to be apart of the wedding planning, so I find it best to ask what he wants and does not want in the beginning. Most grooms will want to be apart of the men's attire, the food, cake, and the DJ. If there is anything else you get out of him, then just thank the Lord above. Then have the big talk, the money talk. Who is paying for what? What can everyone really (like really, really) afford? This where you need to be honest with yourselves. The saddest thing I see in my office when meeting with couples is talking about the budget. If you have caviar taste, you must have a caviar budget. But, there is nothing wrong with having a fish and chicken budget. Fish and chicken is good!

Now that we have all of the tough parts out of the way, it is time to create your Pinterest board (if you haven't already). Yay!

After that, call your wedding planner then call us so we can get your date on our calendar.

Trust and believe, planning a wedding CAN BE FUN and so can marriage!

The great thing about planning a wedding is that you get to see another side of your partner and this is where you begin to learn how to work together and communicate on another level.

So enjoy the process, love each other, get marriage counseling, and enjoy the ride!
